Pardon the interruption

Sorry I've been away these past few days but it was unavoidable.

I noticed the title of my last post was "So long heat". Boy is that ironic. Today it was no less than 97 degrees. I went to the gym this morning and didn't leave the air conditioning since. It looks as if next week will offer more of the same. The forecast calls for 90s throughout. Hello summer.

So Long Heat

Summer hasn't even started yet and we have had more 90 degree days so far this year than all of last year. I think the past 10 days have all been 90 degrees here in Chicago. That's all about to end though. Beginning Wednesday our highs are only expected to be in the low 70s. That will be refreshing.

Don't get me wrong though, I love a good hot summer day. Most especially after suffering through these Chicago winters. We could use a good bit of rain too.

Those Not-So Mighty Yankees

Wow! What a difference a day makes. I was writing yesterday how well my nephew's baseball team was doing and Pow! they got crushed today. 12 - 2 was the final score and it would have been worse if it wasn't for the game being called in the 4th inning because of the slaughter rule.

My White Sox (the big league variety) blew their game last night too. They brought a 1 - 0 lead into the 9th and promptly gave it away to the Padres, effectively ending a 6 game winning streak. They're back at it today, so if we can take this one we'll win the series. I'll take that.

Those Mighty Yankees

No not the New York variety, I'm talking about my nephew's little league team. Big win today against the Cubs. I believe the final was 8-1 (had to leave early bacause my Dad was feeling tired). My nephew Danny went 2 for 3 and had 5 RBIs. Tomorrow will be the real test though. We face the Red Sox who are without a doubt the best team in the league.

Chicago Heat Wave

Wow it's been warm here in Chicago. I think today will be the 5th or 6th consecutive 90 degree day. It doesn't look as if the heat is going to break any time soon either. This just may be a sign of things to come. We have already had more 90 degree days so far this year than all of last, and it's only June 10th.

Don Imus is Cranky

I am watching Don Imus on MSNBC and once again, surprise, surprise, he is cranky. This time it's his eye that is bothering him. I think I have to stop watching TV in the morning and concentrate more on my work.

I guess sportscaster Sid Rosenberg was fired for yet another tastless comment. Boy that guy had about a million chances but blew them all. Oh well, you can't help someone who won't help themself. Apparently this particular comment involved a woman with breast cancer and it really was offensive. So much so that I won't repeat it here.

Google Adwords

Now here is a frustrating endeaver, Google Adwords. In the pay per click game keywords are everything and google has a horrible habit of disabling mine.

With any luck at all I'll find success with Revenue Insider and I won't have to chase Adword income anymore.

Anyone There?

I've been posting on this blog for over two weeks now and have yet to see any of the search engines visit. How long does that take? Are they mad at me? I hope not because I surely would like to see them stop by.

Search engines are apparently very fickle animals and from what I understand Google is the most mysterious. What do they look for anyway. I don't get it.

NBA Finals

Detroit is going back to the finals. they topped the Miami Heat 88-82 last night in Miami to take game 7 and send Miami and Shaq packing. Why am I writing about this? I don't know because I don't really care.

We're in the heart of the baseball season and summer is upon us. So long basketball, hello summer. None of this stuff really matters though. Football, now that's a sport. I am very much looking forward to seeing what Notre Dame can do this year under Charlie Weisz.

Shark's game

My nephew Sharkboy has a baseball game today. I guess it's supposed to be a makeup game from earlier in the year. He's 9 years old so as I'm sure you can imagine the skill level isn't all that great.

Truth be told it's pretty boring stuff. I think he is even bored with it. Nevertheless, I think I'll go out there for an hour or so and support the little guy. There's only a handful of games left.

By the way, I think they have only won 2 games so far this year. That's out of around 15 or so.

Summer is here

Apparantly summer has finally come to Chicago. 90 degrees yesterday for the first time this year. It also looks as if the entire week will be hot. I don't see any rain in the forecast though and we really could use some.

Saturday was a very strange day. We had 5 or 6 different storm bursts. It was like being in Florida. I went to my nephew's little league game but it was canceled due to lightning. Good idea I think. Better safe than sorry, especially when dealing with something as trivial as little league baseball.

Go White Sox

Well I'm watching the White sox go for their 4th straight win. They are facing Cleveland and their best pitcher Sabathia. Oh no, Coco Crisp just hit a two run homer off of our ace Mark Buerhle.

It's pretty interesting to be a White Sox in Chicago. Most assuredly a Cubs town. There are several reasons for this, the main one being the areas that the parks are located in. Wrigley Field is on the toney northside and Cellular Field is on the not too fan friendly southside.

Saturday Morning

Ah, a nice quite peaceful Saturday morning. It's about 7:00 a.m. here which on the weekend is usually a very quite time which is nice. I sometimes grow tired of all the people and noise in this area. As you can probably imagine, living in Chicago can be pretty hectic/noisy and to get pockets of peace, any peace is great.

First stop today is a trip to Bally's. I'll be doing 20 minutes on the treadmill, then working my calfs, biceps and triceps. All told I should be in and out in about one hour. After that I have to cut the grass, a job I never much minded. I enjoy being outside and derive a bit of satisfaction upon gazing at the lawn in it's preened Sunday's best.

Laptops outsell desktops

I just read an interesting story about how laptops have, for the first time, outsold desktops. The study was done on a monthly basis. The reason given was increased mobility needs and improved laptop powers and capabilities.

This reassures me that I made the right decision when I bought my Toshiba laptop. I'm really quite happy with its performance to date. I bought it about 2 years ago for $1300 and I can attest that it has performed very well since then.

I use it mostly for the internet with a high speed cable connection. I also just bought a wireless router which seems to work pretty darn good too.

The Weekend is Here

Well that was quick. It's Friday already and the weekend has once again slowly crept among us. Of course the fact that this was a shortened holiday week certainly plays a factor.

Here we are in June already. It absolutely astounds me how time flies, especially as we get older. I recall as a kid thinking that time crawled so slowly that I was likely to be a kid forever - boy was I wrong.

Camtasia Videos

Well OK. It looks as if I'll be aided considerably by a new Camtasia video that shows the steps necessary to download a WordPress Blog. That's great news for me because I am absolutely clueless when it comes to programming this type of thing.

I guess I'll just have to be patient and fight my through all of this technical stuff as I try to learn it. As always, I think the keywords here are persistance and determination - much like life itself.

Software Problems

Where can I find a talented software person to help me with this software package? Does anyone know someone in the Chicagoland area? This is getting frustrating.
